Indiana

On our last overnight in Kentucky we were a stones throw from Indiana. From Carrolton Kentucky we drove along the river shore for about ten miles to Milton were we crossed the river and entered Indiana at the town of Madison.
Main Street in Madison Indiana |
Madison is a great welcome mat for the state, it is a clean and the old Main Street is a vibrant business district. Homes seemed to be well kept; it just had that home town feel. From there the drive across the state was a pleasant journey through mostly agriculture. Small towns were as small towns go, some nice, some a little shabby.
We traveled across the state in one day and arrived at Vincennes Indiana and to our planned campground early in the afternoon. Because of the holiday weekend we are staying here three nights. We don’t want to get stuck without a place to stay on the busy weekend.

The campground is ok, it’s a long overgrown road to get here but the campground itself is adequate. We have good electricity, good water and a site that is unlevel in two directions. The small campground was full for the weekend, they must have been mostly locals fore they all seemed to know one another.
Lots of blocking to level things up. |
The town of Vincennes was a bit of a shock. It’s a fair sized place, big enough to have a University but was mostly old and tired. The University campus which takes up many blocks downtown is very nice but the rest of it is shabby.

Besides the college the nicest building in town is the Wal Mart. They must value it because when a car caught fire in the parking lot they sent every piece of firefighting equipment and all three city cops (which up to this point we hadn’t seen anywhere).

It’s Monday evening now and most of the campers have left. The place is near deserted and as quiet as a church.
Tonight’s movie will be the 2nd in the Bourne Trilogy. It is titled The Bourne Supremacy with Matt Damon once again starring as Jason Bourne
The mechanical portion of my brain is always spinning; I don’t know what happened to the rest of the gray matter. I have designed a solution to one of my pet peeves and built a prototype using a cereal box. Pictures in the next posting, I’m done talking for the day.
